Returns and investment. :)

Lately, I've been returning a few items that I pulled the trigger on (quite impulsively, I might add) and decided that either:

#1 - I can't wait for the item to fit me (I refuse to say "for me to fit into the item" - ha!)

#2 - I didn't really need it. (Yay for rational thinking!)

Here are some of the items I returned:

The Paradise Clea Jacquard Jacket by J.Crew
It was lovely but didn't fit properly. :(

The Hades Scarf Cardigan by Rory Beca
I had high expectations for this one (bought on a 70% off sale!),
but the material was much flimsier than I thought,
and the "scarf" was actually the same color as the cardigan.

The Velvet Eden Blazer by J.Crew
Another high-expectation purchase.

After all the raves on other blogs, I decided to purchase this last blazer for full-price online (thinking I could justify it with my undying love when I saw it in real life) two full days
after it was released! Sadly, the jacket's structure is not for me. :( It made me look way too top heavy - emphasized my chest (not in a good way!) and the pleats on the side made my hips seem huuuge.

All those returns made me sad. For one thing, it makes me realize how bad of an impulse buyer I am. Boo. And another, so many pretty things...not for me. Double boo.

But then, one day I decided to go to Anthropologie with my cousin...

Browsing, browsing...eventually making my way into the Sale Section when what should I glance upon? It was the beautiful top I had fallen in love with from afar, couldn't get close lest I lose my mind in trying to justify such frivolity...in the SALE section! It was peeking from behind some crumpled tee, in the corner...

The Pleated Petal Tank by Anne Havlicek
...for half off! Woohoo!!

I snatched this up right quick...lest, of course, I try to rationalize myself out of buying it. *wink*

For a better perspective, here it is worn -

I say good for you for returning those items ... I think it feels much better to not have the things I don't really want/need (plus that makes room to find the things I really do want!). Fabulous Anthro top; meant to be.

  2. The Pleated Petal Tank is adorable! And what a deal!

Good for you for taking back the things you know you aren't going to wear! I've been fully taking advantage of J.Crew's 60+ day return policy with original receipt -- which is AWESOME. (Unlike Banana Republic's 30-day return policy, which is SO not!) It's been great to weed through my closet of items I bought last winter and still haven't worn -- I've been turning in the unworn for store credit/gift cards and buying the new fall arrivals I really want.

  3. That top is gorgeous! As for the returns.. good for you! I hate holding on to things I won't wear, it's a waste of money that could be spent on more beautiful things like the Anthropologie top!!

  6. Thanks for comments, ladies! I really do love my Anthro top. It really was meant to be. :)

Althought, it's almost that time to start weeding out my closet again, the start of a new season is around the corner! I have been more careful with my receipts lately. Heehee.

The Pleated Petal top is lovely :) I have it too, but I just wished it looked as lovely as easily on me as on the model -- it runs huge around the middle, I have to belt it!

  8. That Anthro tank is amazing!! Much better than a few almost-ok's, you know? I hate it when I get something because it almost works and I really really really want it to, but mysteriously, it usually doesn't all of a sudden fit me better at home.
