"Time to nut up or shut up!"

I saw this movie with a friend last night, and I had a blast! It was funny and scary at all the right parts. I can totally see, though, that this would not be everybody's cup of tea, but if you're not squeamish (lots of blood and goo comin' out of people's...uhm...bodies) and feeling even slightly cerebral, then you're probably better off watching "A Serious Man" (which I have heard is quite the milestone in the Coen brothers' film careers).

Each character is named after their hometown - Columbus, Tallahasee, Wichita and Little Rock; this is to avoid getting too attached by knowing their real names. (Wichita and Little Rock are sisters; so I assume that they're named after where they were born?)

Aside: So, my name post-apocalypse would be....Las PiƱas? Hmmm...not as catchy. And sounds a bit graphic, no?

The whole film is a hoot and a half, especially with fast quips and memorable moments from Woody Harrelson's Tallahasee. One little nugget, when he and Columbus (played very suspiciously like a Michael Cera character by Jesse Eisenberg) are parting ways, "I'm not that great at farewells...so, uh...that'll do, pig." And the much-talked-about cameo...well, let's just say, it did give the movie a tip towards the comedic genre for sure.

If you're up for an hour and a half of feel-good, ridiculous, "undead" laughs, go see "Zombieland" ...or at least rent the DVD when it comes out. ;)

  1. Sounds like a definite Netflix option. I can handle gore if there's funny to go along with it. Thanks, Las Pinas!
