My love of books started when I was a wee one when my one of my aunts would read me poems
and stories from a hardbound book in an effort to have me drift off to sleep. (I remember one particular poem about "Five Little Tadpoles".)
When I started school and discovered the library, it was heaven. I would look forward to every trip to the library and came to love the smell of the library and the books that were inside.
The card catalog became a friend, waiting with new adventures.

I loved filling up the library card that was inside and finding out when my books would be due. (Do you remember when you had to that? I actually miss it.)

I remember writing a letter to Ms. Duncan when I was in 5th grade.

These were just a couple of books that were my favorites (there are so many more, but there's only so much space!):
These bears are classic!

I loved me some Ramona!

This book was my introduction to the fantasy genre.
(Soon to be followed by "Lord of the Rings" by J.R.R. Tolkien.)
I remember writing a letter to Ms. Duncan when I was in 5th grade. I read "I Know What You Did Last Summer" way before it was made into a movie. ;)
(I just realized I aged myself. LOL!)
This book made me cry.

One of my all-time favorite authors.
And the author of one of my all-time favorite poems, "Hug o' War". :)
Where the sidewalk ends...love love love. That reminds me, I really really need to get that for my kids. Bad mommy I am!
ReplyDeleteAnd The Outsiders...oh back in the day...
So many greats by Shel Silverstein! I'm sure your kids will love and laugh non-stop, not only at his words but at the illustrations too! Those are hilarious!
ReplyDeleteCan you believe the book actually made me cry more than the movie? Maybe I was expecting too much from the movie?
