Tracy Feith for Target.

The images from Target's website (and various other websites/blogs) depicting the Summer 2009 collection by Tracy Feith got me quite excited. Besides the fact that I am so looking forward to the more casual, laidback wear of summer, I admire the prints and seemingly carefree structures of his pieces. (Aaand it must be the frustrated beach girl in me. :p)

I was excited to get down to my nearest Target to try on Mr. Feith's designs. I know that I will be able to present only ONE IRL photo of ONE dress, but work with me. It is, after all, my very first IRL review. ;D

So, here 'goes....

The first item I tried on was the Canvas Dress in Ebony, pictured below (from Target.com).

I loved it on, but in the end, it was that or the Hawaiian Floral Canvas Dress, which I pictured IRL below. Both was made of a substantial canvas/cotton material - light enough for those sultry days, but thick enough not to worry about your underthings showing through. To explain the length of the dress, please r
efer to the photo below - I am only 5 feet tall. So I can imagine that on someone like HeidiG (soo jealous of the height!), it'll fall where it hits the model in the photo.

The zipper on both dresses were the "less expensive" type which catches on some teeth, but not anything soap or wax can fix. There are also pockets on both sides of the dresses; you can get an idea of where they are by where my thumb is hooked in the IRL photo.

I so loved the print on the dress above that I also tried the Hawaiian Floral Canvas Print Skirt. It's made of the same material as the dresses. So pretty! (Again, it's longer on me than on the model but still short enough to qualify as a miniskirt for me.) The colors are so fresh and light that I can picture it with a lot of items I already have in my closet (or is it my own J.Crew B&M?).

I also got the Hooded Pullover, just to throw on when I don't really feel like thinking about what to wear but still feel like being bright and cheery. :)

Just one more note on this IRL review, like most pieces from the Go International Line from Target, sizes are made on the smaller size. So, I advise you all to size up one, or even two, to get the optimum fit. ;)

Oh, and this is Tracy Feith, for those who are curious. Cowabunga, dude! :D

  1. You are so kind, thanks for the love! Actually, I saw the black & white dress in store and loved it - but didn't try it on because I was afraid it would be too short on me. Maybe I will take a look though. Love the Hawaiian dress on you - it looks so vacation-y! Skirt is way cute and so is the hooded pullover - love that color combo.

I will have to take a closer look the next time I'm at Target.

  2. The hooded pullover dress is so cute. It will definitely look like you tried. I was so surprised that Tracy Feith was a boy. I never Googled the name and was unfamiliar till his line hit Target. I got the bloomer shorts, of all things. They are SO cute! I had to a get a 9. Definitely Jrs sized, in general.

  3. Oh -- and I think Tracy is hot. I mean, if he groomed up a bit. I love the surfer look, though. ;-)

  4. Helpful sizing info, Gigi. If you took a 9, I'll start with the max size - what is that, 13? 15?

  5. Gigiofca, I was a little taken aback, too, to find out that Tracy Feith was a dude. LOL! I knew about "Tracy Feith" but thought he was a lady all along. I think it's because he's so famous for designing dresses! He IS a looker, though...I mean, if he showered. *Drewablank's horns grow just a little bit more*

HeidiG, I think you'd rock the lengths of these dresses! And yeah, sadly, the sizes ARE Jr. sizes. Boo.

  6. Awesome, dude! I didn't even know Tracy Feith was a man. Cool! Yeah, I saw these dresses at Target plus a few other things from the collection but never tried it on. Now I might be inspired to!

I had no idea the designer was a man. You learn something new everyday! I love the flower print dress and skirt. I'm afraid the skirt would qualify as a belt on me!

  10. Stephanie, I would say try on the dress if you're a bit anxious to try the skirt/belt. ;)

    Thanks, Alexus! :)
