Highway robbery via lace.

I know many have fallen in love (including myself!)
with the Chantilly Lace Cami from J.Crew pictured above
and shown on the model below,
but not so much with the price tag ($795! Choke.)
and the (alleged) size limitations (0-8 only?? Uhm, discriminate much?).

Below is an alternative I spied in Forever 21, which is a mere $15.80.
Yes, it's less than $20.

It looks much nicer IRL and would do quite nicely under a jacket or cardigan. :)

And you can easily snip off those ribbons.
I'd keep them on.
Adds a little charm to the top. ;)

  1. Good job! I was just on the F21 site looking for an alternative, but didn't see this. I love it in creme anyway.

    Nice work! :-)

oh wow, i knew about the (exorbitant exortional delusional) price of that cami, but i didn't hear about the size restrictions, that's crazy. that's a great find from forever21. i've also seen some beautiful vintage shirts and anthropologie items go by on eBay that are sort of similar.

  3. Interesting. I may have to check it out. How did it feel? Was the lace scratchy (hate that) or soft?

  4. gigiofca: Thanks! I learn from the best! *ahem*

goldenmeans: I agree, eBay's a great resource! It's just crazy what J.Crew is planning to ask for this cami, and add to that, the sizes. :( But you know what, J.Crew is teaching us to be prudent with our purchases and to be able to find cheaper alternatives. ;)

HeidiG: The top had a soft, rayon like layer under the lace; so the lace didn't touch your skin and wasn't itchy at all.

  5. I think that much lace is crazy, but it is very, very pretty. Good job on finding a MUCH less expensive alternative...

  6. I love the J.Crew top but the price is CRAZY CRAZY! There is no way I'd pay that and a sale price would even be way too much probably. The F21 version is way more affordable and equally cute!

  7. I like the Forever 21 top much better! It's more vintagey and cute IMO. Yeah, good luck pulling that one off, J.Crew!
